Canyon Creek Daylight
– Project Value $1,500,000
Landesign Landscape Construction Ltd. was proud to partner with the City of Vancouver on the Canyon Creek Daylighting Project—an ambitious environmental restoration initiative five years in the making. This transformative project focused on revitalizing a historic waterway at Spanish Banks by replacing an aging culvert system with a newly constructed, open-air stream channel.
Our team led the full-scale excavation and regrading of the field to unveil and shape a naturalized creek bed, carefully designed to restore ecological function and enhance habitat for native species. The new river system was engineered to expand over time, supporting increased biodiversity and improving the health of the surrounding watershed.
This project reflects Landesign’s commitment to sustainable landscape construction and ecological stewardship, contributing to long-term environmental resilience in one of Vancouver’s most cherished coastal areas.
Landesign’s scope of work included:
• site works, hauling fill, and land shaping
• underground drainage system and manhole installation, connected to COV storm system
• creation of a multi-use asphalt pathway and new curb installations
• hydroseeding and wildflower seeding
• bioswale construction for natural stormwater management
• indigenous and native tree and shrub planting
• vegetation sanctuary establishment
• split rail fencing installation
• new pipe fitting and outflow connections
